Pregnancy is a BEAUTIFUL but CHALLENGING life experience.

Pre-post natal Pilates is a program designed with low-impact exercise that emphasizes on engaging your deep core muscles (i.e. Transversus abdominis, pelvic floor and multifidus) which helps to improve life quality and reduce complications during pregnancy and after childbirth.

Why is deep core muscle training necessary?

  • Prepare mothers for labor

  • Improve core stability to minimize back pain and spinal stiffness

  • Minimize the separation of rectus abdominis (diastasis recti), enhance general recovery after childbirth.

  • Improve pelvic floor muscle functioning to prevent incontinence and uterus prolapsed

  • Postural maintenance

The class also involves:

  • UPPER BODY TRAINING and ARM STRENGTHENING for BABY CARRY and BREAST-FEEDING PREPARATION to minimize neck & shoulder injuries.

  • LOWER BODY STRENGTHENING helps to reduce fluid retention, improve blood circulation and build stamina. It also helps ease the labor process and prepare the body for carrying the baby around without knee and back injuries.

According to 2019 Canadian guideline for physical activity throughout pregnancy, Pregnant women should accumulate at least 150 min of moderate-intensity physical activity each week to achieve clinically meaningful health benefits and reductions in pregnancy complications. Strong recommendation, moderate-quality evidence.
